2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42241 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/shmem: disable PMD-sized page cache if needed For shmem files, it's possible that PMD-sized page cache can't be supported by xarray. For example, 512MB page cache on ARM64 when the base page size is 64KB can't be supported by xarray. It leads to errors as the following messages indicate when this sort of xarray entry is split. WARNING: CPU: 34 PID: 7578 at lib/xarray.c:1025 xas_split_alloc+0xf8/0x128 Modules linked... Linux_kernel 5.5
2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42242 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mmc: sdhci: Fix max_seg_size for 64KiB PAGE_SIZE blk_queue_max_segment_size() ensured: if (max_size < PAGE_SIZE) max_size = PAGE_SIZE; whereas: blk_validate_limits() makes it an error: if (WARN_ON_ONCE(lim->max_segment_size < PAGE_SIZE)) return -EINVAL; The change from one to the other, exposed sdhci which was setting maximum segment size too low in some circumstances. Fix the maximum segment size when it is too low. Linux_kernel 5.5
2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42243 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mm/filemap: make MAX_PAGECACHE_ORDER acceptable to xarray Patch series "mm/filemap: Limit page cache size to that supported by xarray", v2. Currently, xarray can't support arbitrary page cache size. More details can be found from the WARN_ON() statement in xas_split_alloc(). In our test whose code is attached below, we hit the WARN_ON() on ARM64 system where the base page size is 64KB and huge page size is 512MB. The... Linux_kernel 5.5
2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42244 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: mos7840: fix crash on resume Since commit c49cfa917025 ("USB: serial: use generic method if no alternative is provided in usb serial layer"), USB serial core calls the generic resume implementation when the driver has not provided one. This can trigger a crash on resume with mos7840 since support for multiple read URBs was added back in 2011. Specifically, both port read URBs are now submitted on resume for... Linux_kernel 5.5
2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42245 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: Revert "sched/fair: Make sure to try to detach at least one movable task" This reverts commit b0defa7ae03ecf91b8bfd10ede430cff12fcbd06. b0defa7ae03ec changed the load balancing logic to ignore env.max_loop if all tasks examined to that point were pinned. The goal of the patch was to make it more likely to be able to detach a task buried in a long list of pinned tasks. However, this has the unfortunate side effect... Linux_kernel 5.5
2024-08-07 CVE-2024-42247 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wireguard: allowedips: avoid unaligned 64-bit memory accesses On the parisc platform, the kernel issues kernel warnings because swap_endian() tries to load a 128-bit IPv6 address from an unaligned memory location: Kernel: unaligned access to 0x55f4688c in wg_allowedips_insert_v6+0x2c/0x80 [wireguard] (iir 0xf3010df) Kernel: unaligned access to 0x55f46884 in wg_allowedips_insert_v6+0x38/0x80 [wireguard] (iir... 2006-09-09 CVE-2006-4663 The source code tar archive of the Linux kernel 2.6.16, 2.6.17.11, and possibly other versions specifies weak permissions (0666 and 0777) for certain files and directories, which might allow local users to insert Trojan horse source code that would be used during the next kernel compilation. NOTE: another researcher disputes the vulnerability, stating that he finds "Not a single world-writable file or directory." CVE analysis as of 20060908 indicates that permissions will only be weak under... Linux_kernel N/A
2024-07-16 CVE-2022-48789 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme-tcp: fix possible use-after-free in transport error_recovery work While nvme_tcp_submit_async_event_work is checking the ctrl and queue state before preparing the AER command and scheduling io_work, in order to fully prevent a race where this check is not reliable the error recovery work must flush async_event_work before continuing to destroy the admin queue after setting the ctrl state to RESETTING such that there... 2024-07-16 CVE-2022-48790 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: nvme: fix a possible use-after-free in controller reset during load Unlike .queue_rq, in .submit_async_event drivers may not check the ctrl readiness for AER submission. This may lead to a use-after-free condition that was observed with nvme-tcp. The race condition may happen in the following scenario: 1. driver executes its reset_ctrl_work 2. -> nvme_stop_ctrl - flushes ctrl async_event_work 3. ctrl sends AEN which is... Linux_kernel 7.0
2024-07-16 CVE-2022-48796 In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iommu: Fix potential use-after-free during probe Kasan has reported the following use after free on dev->iommu. when a device probe fails and it is in process of freeing dev->iommu in dev_iommu_free function, a deferred_probe_work_func runs in parallel and tries to access dev->iommu->fwspec in of_iommu_configure path thus causing use after free. BUG: KASAN: use-after-free in of_iommu_configure+0xb4/0x4a4 Read of size 8 at... Linux_kernel 7.8
