2018-07-06 CVE-2018-13405 The inode_init_owner function in fs/inode.c in the Linux kernel through 3.16 allows local users to create files with an unintended group ownership, in a scenario where a directory is SGID to a certain group and is writable by a user who is not a member of that group. Here, the non-member can trigger creation of a plain file whose group ownership is that group. The intended behavior was that the non-member can trigger creation of a directory (but not a plain file) whose group ownership is... 2018-07-11 CVE-2016-9604 It was discovered in the Linux kernel before 4.11-rc8 that root can gain direct access to an internal keyring, such as '.dns_resolver' in RHEL-7 or '.builtin_trusted_keys' upstream, by joining it as its session keyring. This allows root to bypass module signature verification by adding a new public key of its own devising to the keyring. Linux_kernel 4.4
2018-09-06 CVE-2018-5391 The Linux kernel, versions 3.9+, is vulnerable to a denial of service attack with low rates of specially modified packets targeting IP fragment re-assembly. An attacker may cause a denial of service condition by sending specially crafted IP fragments. Various vulnerabilities in IP fragmentation have been discovered and fixed over the years. The current vulnerability (CVE-2018-5391) became exploitable in the Linux kernel with the increase of the IP fragment reassembly queue size. 2018-07-30 CVE-2017-7518 A flaw was found in the Linux kernel before version 4.12 in the way the KVM module processed the trap flag(TF) bit in EFLAGS during emulation of the syscall instruction, which leads to a debug exception(#DB) being raised in the guest stack. A user/process inside a guest could use this flaw to potentially escalate their privileges inside the guest. Linux guests are not affected by this. Ubuntu_linux, Debian_linux, Linux_kernel, Enterprise_linux, Enterprise_linux_desktop, Enterprise_linux_server, Enterprise_linux_server_aus, Enterprise_linux_server_eus, Enterprise_linux_workstation 7.8
2018-10-03 CVE-2018-17972 An issue was discovered in the proc_pid_stack function in fs/proc/base.c in the Linux kernel through 4.18.11. It does not ensure that only root may inspect the kernel stack of an arbitrary task, allowing a local attacker to exploit racy stack unwinding and leak kernel task stack contents. Ubuntu_linux, Debian_linux, Linux_kernel, Enterprise_linux_desktop, Enterprise_linux_server, Enterprise_linux_server_aus, Enterprise_linux_server_eus, Enterprise_linux_server_tus, Enterprise_linux_workstation 5.5
2019-06-19 CVE-2019-11479 Jonathan Looney discovered that the Linux kernel default MSS is hard-coded to 48 bytes. This allows a remote peer to fragment TCP resend queues significantly more than if a larger MSS were enforced. A remote attacker could use this to cause a denial of service. This has been fixed in stable kernel releases 4.4.182, 4.9.182, 4.14.127, 4.19.52, 5.1.11, and is fixed in commits 967c05aee439e6e5d7d805e195b3a20ef5c433d6 and 5f3e2bf008c2221478101ee72f5cb4654b9fc363. 2019-02-01 CVE-2019-7308 kernel/bpf/verifier.c in the Linux kernel before 4.20.6 performs undesirable out-of-bounds speculation on pointer arithmetic in various cases, including cases of different branches with different state or limits to sanitize, leading to side-channel attacks. Ubuntu_linux, Linux_kernel, Leap 5.6
2019-02-15 CVE-2019-6974 In the Linux kernel before 4.20.8, kvm_ioctl_create_device in virt/kvm/kvm_main.c mishandles reference counting because of a race condition, leading to a use-after-free. Ubuntu_linux, Debian_linux, Big\-Ip_access_policy_manager, Big\-Ip_advanced_firewall_manager, Big\-Ip_analytics, Big\-Ip_application_acceleration_manager, Big\-Ip_application_security_manager, Big\-Ip_edge_gateway, Big\-Ip_fraud_protection_service, Big\-Ip_global_traffic_manager, Big\-Ip_link_controller, Big\-Ip_local_traffic_manager, Big\-Ip_policy_enforcement_manager, Big\-Ip_webaccelerator, Linux_kernel, Enterprise_linux, Enterprise_linux_desktop, Enterprise_linux_eus, Enterprise_linux_server, Enterprise_linux_server_aus, Enterprise_linux_server_eus, Enterprise_linux_server_tus, Enterprise_linux_workstation, Openshift_container_platform 8.1
2019-02-21 CVE-2019-8980 A memory leak in the kernel_read_file function in fs/exec.c in the Linux kernel through 4.20.11 allows attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) by triggering vfs_read failures. Ubuntu_linux, Debian_linux, Linux_kernel, Leap 7.5
